MEET THE MAKER

Hello and welcome — I’m Lyubka, the founder and maker behind MacheEl Treasures. What started as a simple, personal ritual of crafting with my hands has grown into a meaningful creative journey.

Working from my home studio in Sofia, I design and create handcrafted home décor pieces from recycled paper mache. I’m drawn to textures, organic shapes, and the quiet beauty of imperfection — values inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates simplicity, authenticity, and the natural passage of time.

Each piece you’ll find here is made slowly and thoughtfully, with care for both the material and the story it carries. My aim is to create décor that brings warmth, calm, and a touch of understated character to your living space.

Everything begins with old cardboard and scrap paper — materials that once had a different life. I collect and sort them by hand, shred them down, then soften and blend them into a thick, clay-like pulp. It’s a quiet, meditative process — giving something forgotten the chance to become beautiful again.

I don’t use molds or machines — just my hands, time, and a lot of love and personal attention. Every curve, every surface is shaped slowly and intuitively. That’s why no two pieces are ever the same. The little imperfections, the textures, the balance — that’s what makes each one special.

Once a piece is shaped, I let it dry at its own pace in the open air. No rushing. No shortcuts. This slow, natural drying process lets the form settle into itself — sometimes gently cracking, always becoming more real. It’s part of the charm and gives each piece even more personality.
